Chub Take’s the Victory At Portsmouth Raceway Park

Chub and The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series headed to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH Saturday for the running of the $10,000 to win "9th Annual Cornett Clash 100" presented by track owners Boone, Joyce and Tim Coleman along with promoter Max Warnock. They have posted nearly $42,000 total purse for The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series sanctioned event. Chub and the team unloaded the Corry Rubber, Corry Laser, Nystrom’s Auto Sales, Draime Racing Engines, Rocket Chassis, Pierotti Motorsports, Farr MotorSports, FLUIDNYE High Performance, Chevrolet Monte Carlo for tonight’s race, the 2002 Renegade point chase is getting tighter as only 50 points separated Chub in the lead and Mike Balzano in second. Chub qualified the 1* 8th out of 29 cars signed in to compete tonight for the Renegade DirtCar Racing Series event. Then he lined up in the 2nd heat and won with Delmas Conley in second. Now he moves on to tonight’s "9th Annual Cornett Clash 100" feature event and starts in the 7th position. Chub made his way up to the front and battled side by side with Delmas Conley for 89 laps with Chub leading laps 11-36 Delmas leading laps 37 – 92, the two swapped the lead 6 times in the final 8 laps with Chub taking the lead for good on lap 97 and taking home the win and $10,000 from Portsmouth Race Way Park. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the team and hopefully this will turn things around for us. The top ten finishers in the 100-lap event were 1st Chub Frank 2. Delmas Conley 3. Jackie Boggs 4. Mike Balzano 5. Steve Shaver 6. Rob Blair 7. Jim Bernheisel 8. Aaron Scott 9. Rod Conley 10. Bill Cunningham.
