Hotchkis Tuning, home to the Sport Compact Car slalom record
holding Toyota Celica, displayed their new Supercharged Celica Extreme in their booth
during the 2002 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. In 2003 the car will compete in selected NHRA,
IRDC and Battle of the Imports street tire drag racing classes and the West Coast NASA 3,
4 and 12-hour road course endurance races. The goal is to encourage Celica owners to
modify their cars
with
premier aftermarket products and take part in a variety of track events and shows. The
Celica Extreme will compete and succeed in these competitive events using Hotchkis TVS
(Total Vehicle System) performance suspension. These complete performance suspension
packages provide the enthusiasts vehicle more traction, stability and control in
extreme racetrack conditions. Their cars can be, driven fast on a track and then driven
home comfortably, because good ride quality is an important component of all Hotchkis TVS
packages.
The Hotchkis Celica Extreme features products from the
Industries premier, aftermarket performance companies. These go-fast products include; TRD
engine components, TRD brakes, Yokohama tires, FLUIDYNE Performance Radiator and Oil
Cooler, Molly Design body kit, Magnuson supercharger, Red Line Oil, Centerforce clutch, OZ
wheels, Quaife differential, Sparco seats, seat belts and steering wheel, Motec engine
electronics, Auto Meter gauges, MSD electronics, ATL fuel cell, Hillco fasteners, Optima
battery, APC carbon fiber hood, Denso Iridium spark plugs, APR carbon fiber wing, K&N
filter, Prothane polyurethane bushings and B&M shift kit.
The Motorsports Technical Center, Sakata Motorsports
along with TRD are finalizing the supercharged engine configuration, electronics and dyno
testing. The Celica Extreme has a custom TIG welded 4130 chrome molly roll cage, a
fabricated aluminum dash, fabricated gauge cluster and much more.
The car will undergo development testing in December and
then make its track debut in early 2003.
